THE DETAILS

At JNT Interiors, a mainstay in our design is that our homes are “traditional with a twist” and this home is all of that. What was once a dark, outdated 100-year-old bungalow located in the heart of Hyde Park Village in Tampa, was transformed to a bright, clean, classic, welcoming charmer of a home. The client contacted me very early on in the process, when renovating the home was just a thought, and with many brainstorming sessions with the client and architect, we worked through all the space planning challenges and created a floor plan that flowed much better than the original and gave more space in the common areas as well as made better use of other rooms as well. Old homes have their quirks and we were able to get it all figured out.

At the same time, my client and I were making all the selections for the home from interior to the exterior. “Light” and “bright” were the two words that I kept in my head the entire time I was designing this project. White walls throughout allow the natural light to bounce throughout the home, the floors were refinished to a beautiful, classic rich brown. This will be my client’s forever home so we placed the Master Suite downstairs so stairs wouldn’t be a challenge later. One of our most favorite spots in the home is the reading room/guest suite upstairs. It is a smaller space, and I pushed the client to have a little more fun in this room. Geometric wall covering was installed on all of the walls, a multicolored rug brought in a touch of whimsy, and a pop of leopard was a must. Leopard is neutral right?!
